So this being my first year owning a PS3 I had a lot of catching up to do, meaning I had a lot games I needed to play and I did my best to play as many as I could. So what were my favorites? Well I’m glad you asked because I have six of my favorites sitting right here, these games were not all from 2010 some are rather old. Hopefully by the end of 2011 I can do a favorite game(s) of 2011 post since I should be even more caught up this coming year. Anyways here are the six games that I played this year that I absolutely loved. These are in no particular order.
Uncharted
I am currently working on the second installment of this Indiana Jones meets National Treasure game. This game was fun in a lot of ways. Not just with the story but the gameplay in general was exciting. From; jumping cliff to cliff to running from crazy treasure hunters that are trying to kill you. Granted the story took a bit of a weird turn at the end this was definitely one of my favorites this last year, the story was so in-depth and engaging that my wife would even ask me to pause it if she left the room so she wouldn’t miss anything.
The Force Unleashed
Here is an older game that I had originally played just on the ps2, when I picked it up for the ps3 I didn’t expect it to be much different but to my surprise it was actually quite different. I am a huge Star Wars buff so this game was right up my alley. To bad the sequel could not of been more disappointing for me. I could play this one over and over again many years to come. If you love Star Wars and always wanted to feel like a Jedi this game is for you.
God of War 1/2/3
I lumped all three of these together just because they are all quite similar besides the story. All three of these are not only fun but the story is very interesting and if you are a Greek mythology fan this will be a great game for you. The gameplay can get redundant but if you are a hack/slash gamer there is not a better game(s) than God of War.
Borderlands
I’m pretty sure this has been on everyone’s list at one point in time. This game provides tons of entertainment and the Download Content doesn’t disappoint either. If you have some friends the multiplayer is tremendously fun. The dialog alone in this game will make you laugh and get a few headshots on some baddies and really hear your character talk shit. Let’s hope GearBox can pull out another winner now that they have the daunting task of Duke Nukem Forever. I have high hopes and I have a lot of a faith in GearBox.
Modern Warfare/Modern Warfare 2/Black Ops
OOOooh the infamous Call of duty series, Modern Warfare 2 was my first FPS game on a console and while it had tons and tons of flaws at the end of the day it provide hours and hours of entertainment for my friends and I. I never got to experience the online of Modern Warfare but I did go through the campaign and while the online of Black Ops far outweighs Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare/Modern Warfare 2 campaign story far outweighs the campaign story of Black Ops. While Black Ops was definitely darker the story of Modern Warfare/Modern Warfare 2 was absolutely amazing in my opinion. Now Black Ops still has its problems online and while we are still in the “honeymoon” phase of the game I think that the developers are on the right track on getting the bugs/glitches squashed and seem to really care about the community. Only time will tell.
Assassin’s Creed 2/Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
I am currently doing this a bit backwards as I started with Assassin’s Creed 2 then went and did Brotherhood now I am going back to do the original. I have heard Assassin’s Creed 2 is far better than the first but I figured I should give it a shot for myself. Either way Assassin’s Creed 2 had me hooked from the get go, I loved the story and the free roam ability is very cool. Not to mention that your character is super bad ass looking and how could not like sneaking up behind people and stabbing them in the next like a ninja. I am looking forward to Assassin’s Creed 3 that is rumored to be coming out the later part of 2011.

Little Big Planet
Very fun and frustrating game that you can throw in and play and not realize you’ve spent 2+ hours playing.
DeathSpank
Easily the best game I have downloaded to date on the PSN. Very fun and very funny game that will have you laughing out loud quite a bit.
There you have it, like I said I am hoping to have a bit more insight into the different games this coming year, and I am always open to any suggestions on games that you guys recommend. I do plan on getting Mass Effect 2 right when it comes out on PlayStation 3 so that is one of the games I really looking forward to this coming year.
