Enslaved Demo Impressions

As I was doing my weekly scroll through of the PSN store I stumbled onto a demo of Enslaved and I thought ahaha cool a new demo to play. Time to check it out, upon downloading and a long install (seriously Sony did one of your firmware updates mess with this) I dove in.

From what I got the chance to play the seemed quite linear in the sense that you go here, jump here, fight a couple dudes here. Not to say it was horrible but I like having the opportunity to explore at least a little bit. Now again I only got to play one small level so it could change as you go further into the game (I hope).

Going through I didn’t quite understand what was really going on besides the fact that I was in some kind of prison it seemed like and some chick broke out and tried to blow up the prison so I had to escape. Nothing was really given as far as more information which I thought was a bit weak. I myself like to see a bit more given in the demo to entice me to buy the game. Granted because of this site I will be doing so either way just for a regular Joe though, they may be turned off because they don’t get teased even a little bit with the story.

As for the graphics I would almost say they were a bit weak in the since that in this day and age you need to have graphics that will make the player feel like they are having sex with their eyes.  They seemed a bit choppy at parts and even the cut scenes didn’t seem as crisp and clear as they could of been. I’m not a graphics whore myself so it wasn’t a huge deal to me at least.

Enslaved Running from monster

Gameplay was your typical over the top action or hack/slash style of gameplay. I equate it to the gameplay of say The Force Unleashed or Xmen Origins: Wolverine.  The game is developed by Ninja Theory which most of you should recognize as the co-developer of one remake/rehashed Devil May Cry or DmC. Which I myself is excited for, I know most are screaming and crying about Dante’s new look but I’m like what ever with it as long as the game is fun. Anyways back on topic, Enslaved I think does have potential and I am looking forward to really diving into playing it come the 5th of October (along with Castlevania oooo), I just really wish it did a better job pulling me into the story.
