SURPRISE!!!! Call of Duty Game Announced for 2011

Some breaking news sprang up yesterday when Activision was releasing their quarterly numbers… well I say breaking but not surprising in the least. In what everyone should have expected it was noted that there will be another Call of Duty game released later next year (November maybe?), “We will launch a new first-person action title during the back half of 2011,” Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said. Most are speculating it will be Modern Warfare 3 as it was already pretty well known that Infinity Ward had been working on another installment before as they say in the industry “shit in the fan” and the firing of the top guys and then turning around and losing around 35 people after. So take that for what it’s worth, I have faith Infinity Ward can bounce back pretty nicely but I still think people are shaky about it. We’ll see though.

Now I know what most of you are saying “OMG ACTIVISION IS MILKING THE SHIT OUT OF THIS FRANCHISE AND DRAGGING IT THROUGH THE DIRT” Ok well that is true but we can’t kid ourselves and say we won’t be picking up this game on day one of release. We can play the whole “I’m done with this franchise” role all we want but in the end it’ll be a decent game with plenty of flaws in it that we can bitch and moan about for a year before they release another one. Is Activision milking the franchise? Absolutely!! Should we blame them? That could be a tossup from a fiscal standpoint it’s absolutely a great idea, from a business… that could go either way. For me MW2 may have been a flawed game but it provided hours and days of fun with friends. I don’t see that being a problem with Black Ops and I don’t see that being a problem in the near future. So we can hate on the fact they are milking the franchise all we want but in the end there is a good chance 80-90 percent of us will still pick it up and play it. Granted bring up this type of thing before you have even released your latest version to me is a bit of an overkill.
