Black Ops has been out a little over a month and what better way to celebrate that by announcing a map pack already in the works for it. Granted the map pack is still over a monthly away (For Xbox players anyways). It still seems a bit early to already be releasing a map pack for the game. At least it isn’t going to be exact maps from previous games. Treyarch is at least giving us 4 brand new maps where Infinity Ward thought it would be cute to just give us 2 new ones and some old maps from previous versions and still charge us $14.99.
According to Activision the map pack will be dubbed “First Strike” and will feature 4 new maps and 1 zombie map for us. The 4 multiplayer maps are Berlin Wall, Discovery, Stadium, and Kowloon and the new Zombie map has been named Ascension. I’m sure within the next few weeks we’ll be getting some screens of these new maps so keep a look out here on GameJunkster as more develops. Xbox 360 players will get first dibs on the map pack similar to previous Call of Duty download content. As some of you know Microsoft struck a deal to get the content first. No official date for PC, PS3, and Wii owners but if like Modern Warfare 2 maps we can expect them about a month later. Expect the map pack to cost the same as previous map packs ($14.99).
While we can all bitch and moan about the cost I’d say 99% of us will be buying the map pack either way. I’m just happy they are all new, and it would be nice to see more maps pop up. Let’s hope it pushes the Nuketown map from coming up so much… God I hate that map.
